Further Information

Q:
can i use this LDR to activate motors with 3-5 v?
Asked by: rie
A:

Hi Rie, You could use this to act as the trigger for turning a motor on, you may be better using it in this kit as it is designed to switch an output on. However it can only provide 500mA to the output device so you may need to use a relay to enable you to drive a motor.

Q:
I need to replace a CdS cell in my Konica Auto S3 rangefinder camera. This sits near to the lens and is obscured by variable aperture depending on the shutter speed set. I am guessing it is about 4mm but I have not disassembled it yet. What rating photoresistor am I likely to need?
Asked by: David Shackleton
A:

Hi David, As this is a specific piece of kit you would need to refer to the manufacture for information on replacement parts. Sorry we can’t offer any further advice.

Q:
OK So I want to make a animatronics spider, now to make it move im using a 3v vibrating motor but want to know if I could use the LDR so that when it looses a certain amount of light it can make the bug jitter to a certain direction. also what would I use if I wanted it to follow a white line etc..?
Asked by: Abdul
A:

You wouldn’t be able to alter the direction that the motor would move the spider in, this motor would provide a very uncontrollable movement. We do have a line following kit however you would require the motor driver board and a few other components.

Q:
Hello - I am interested in using a miniature LDR for a public art installation. In my plan, I would blackout all light, give visitors flash lights, and have sound effects play as flashlights scan photographs. Is it feasible to wire a photo frame with your LDR such that ambient sound can be triggered by flashlight lumens? I am not an electrical engineer. From you I guess I want to know if anything in my plan sounds fundamentally flawed before I hire an engineer to design with your product. Thanks!!
Asked by: Whit Baker
A:
Entirely possible! Sounds like it would be really cool too. I'd love if you could take some photos or something of the finished installation and send them to us!

Q:

Presently in our company we have 45 w LED street lights?
can you suggest me which type of ldr is suitable and better?
Can we operate the in certain levels of lux these ldr's as per our requirement.?

Awaiting for your response.

A:
Either of our LDRs could be used for any reasonable light level. The rest of the circuit is what determines the trigger point or value.

Q:
Is this the same LDR as supplied with the Moodlight Kit ( dark activated colour changing LED kit )
Asked by: John Land
A:
Yes all out kits use the same LDR which is this one. The only time that we sell a different LDR is when it is in a PICAXE kit.
