This is a high quality Italian Poplar Plywood sheet which is suitable for a wide range of applications and is particularly suited to laser cutting. Poplar has a lower density than Birch, meaning that it can be easily laser cut at lower power settings (See comparison image below).
This Poplar Plywood has an AB grading which is typically the best grade of plywood available. Please note: As wood is a natural product, there is often a crook or bow to the sheet. The natural twist might be in excess of 25mm (see below - Tolerances and Caution).
The surface of the material will be consistent in appearance with no large variations in colour. Small pin knots are allowed and these would typically be only a few mm in diameter.
This plywood uses an EN314-2 Class 1 glue which is suitable for Interior (dry) conditions. Interior glue is generally considered the preferred option for materials that are to be laser cut. This is because the exterior glues can cause a more obvious 'burnt' look on and around the area that is cut.
Poplar is a cultivated wood that grows quickly, which makes it a very sustainable product. This material is PEFC certified.
- Low density for easier laser cutting.
- Top quality AB grading meaning fewer knots aiding consistency of laser cutting.
- PEFC Certified (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).
- Interior grade glue.
- 1 x 3mm Poplar Laser Plywood, 600mm x 400mm Sheet.
- Length: 600mm.
- Width: 400mm.
- Height: 3mm.
Watch this video below for information on how to use this product (please note: other Kitronik products are included in this video).
The manufacturing tolerance for the thickness of plywood sheets are the stated thickness +0.2mm/-0.4mm. This means a 3mm plywood sheet could be between 2.6mm and 3.2mm in thickness.
- As wood is a natural product there is often a bow or crook to plywood, and in some cases a twist. We have measured in excess of 25mm rise between the flat centre of the plywood and the corner. These twists are completely normal and add to the natural character of the plywood. If you are using this product on a laser cutter; these sheets should be strapped/taped to the laser bed before cutting.
- On all Plywood, MDF and Perspex Sheet Orders (excluding A4 size) there is a flat delivery charge of £6.50 per order in the U.K. (£18.00 for remote locations).

Hi Kitronik, I am an x design teacher and have set up a business to raise funds for the charity work we support. We hope to build many workshops across the world to help the vocational training of the worlds poorest through compassionuk. I have designed a range of pop up cards that mainly use 4mm poplar but two of my new ranges now use 3mm. I buy in bulk having 100 sheets of 8x4ft italian poplar AB grade cut to size of 600x400. this gives 12 small sheets per 8x4. I therefore usually order every two months 1200 sheets. Please can you give me a price for 1200 sheets of 3mm cut to 600x400ish, including delivery, cutting and transport to Moray Scotland. thank you.

Hi Graham, Unfortunately our supplier is unable to provide 1.5mm Poplar laser plywood, however we do stock birch laser plywood in this thickness and two other thin thickness finishes, https://www.kitronik.co.uk/materials.html?cat=191
My laser bed is 460 x 305mm Is it possible to get the 600x400 AB Poplar sheets cut to 400x300? I would be looking to buy about 200 sheets as a first order. Thanks, Allan

Hi Allan, Unfortunately we don’t have the facilities to cut the wood down to the size you require. However I am looking into if this is a size we can obtain and also if its something we could look at stocking. I will email you shortly with any information I have.
Which tends to warp more, poplar or birch ply?
Posted byon Wednesday, 16 September 2015
As both are a natural product they will both have a tendency to warp, however, we have measured a 25mm rise between the flat centre of the plywood and the corner of the 3mm birch laser ply and a 10mm rise between the flat centre of the plywood and the corner on the 3mm poplar laser ply.
Can these be supplied cut in half so that they measure 300 x 400 mm?

Unfortunately it is not possible for us to provide this item cut to size.
