Question:

I need to power a motor using solar power do i just buy the solar cell and connect it like i would a battery, or do i buy a rechargeable battery? thank you!

    Hi, If you just connected the solar cell to the motor it would only spin when there was enough current to drive the motor, it would be similar to our solar buggy kit, https://www.kitronik.co.uk/2153-solar-powered-buggy.html. However if you wanted to charge a battery then flick a switch and run the motor until the battery is empty then you would need to use a rechargeable battery, you would need to make sure that the circuit can charge the batteries correct and you would also need a diode to stop the battery discharging into the solar cell.

Question:

Will it become 1800mAh and 12 V if I link 2 up in parallel? Also what is the maximum discharge current and can i have a datasheet?

    If you connected the batteries in parallel you would double the mAh but the voltage would remain the same. If you connected them in serial the voltage would double and the mAh would remain the same. We currently don’t have the datasheet for this item, however I am looking into if I can obtain this. I am unsure if the datasheet will include details of the maximum discharge for the battery.
