Deluxe stereo amplifier (iPod version) pre-built

The pre-built version of the amplifier kit allows you to focus more on product design. The iPod stereo amplifier kit is supplied with all the resistors, volume control, capacitors, power switch & IC holder fitted. Students just need to finish it by connecting the jack lead, speakers & power clip to the board.

This version of the deluxe amp kit is supplied with an iPod connecting lead (Please note this is not the Lightning connector used on the some Apple devices such as the iPhone 5. Adapters are available).

It works nicely off a 9V battery (not supplied) or if you want to run it of the mains why not try our 12V wall power unit.

PCB dimensions: 62mm x 50mm.

Output power at 9V is 1W per speaker. See the datasheet for more details.

Note: You will only have to use the build instruction to connect the iPod lead, power lead and speakers. Schools will receive a more detailed set of teaching notes on a CDROM.

Hello,

Will this allow charging of the iPod if it is plugged in via your 12v wall adapeter?

Thanks
Chris

Unfortunately the iPod cable only has the 3 wire connections for ground and the two audio channels. As a result it is not possible to charge the device. If the wires were in the cable and the board regulated to 5V then this could be done, but not with this kit.

Hello,
what are the minium and maximum radius of the spekaers of which that can be bought and can the ipod lead
be used for the iphone 3GS.
Response by geoffhampson on
If by asking about minimum and maximum speaker diameters you are asking what speakers can be used with the kit then:
The kit can be used with any 8ohm speaker as long as it is capable of handling 1W peak power. A lower power specification of speaker would be fine provided the volume is turned down. The physical size of the speaker doesn’t necessarily translate to more power though can be an indicator. You would be able to use a more powerful speaker with the kit but won’t be able to drive it to its full potential. That said don’t go buying a 100W speaker and expect it to work as there won’t be enough power to drive the coil.

Yes the iPod lead will work with the iPhone 3GS.

Hello!!!

Would this amp kit be able to connect to 8 speakers and would it be powerful enough?? All 8 speakers would be playing simultaneously in a very small space on low volume. What is the difference between the "deluxe amp kit" and this "pre built amp kit"? Is it simply that one is pre built and the other is not?
Thank you!
