Deluxe stereo amplifier (3.5mm jack version) pre-built

The pre-built version of the amplifier kit allows you to focus more on product design. The deluxe stereo amplifier kit is supplied with all the resistors, volume control, capacitors, power switch & IC holder fitted. Students just need to finish it by connecting the jack lead, speakers & power clip to the board.

This version of the deluxe amp kit is supplied with a 3.5mm jack connector.

It works nicely off a 9V battery (not supplied) or if you want to run it of the mains why not try our 12V wall power unit.

PCB dimensions: 62mm x 50mm.

Output power at 9V is 1W per speaker. See the datasheet for more details.

Note: You will only have to use the build instruction to connect the jack lead, power lead and speakers. Schools will receive a more detailed set of teaching notes on a CDROM.

so i need the switch the DC input and the volume to be off the PCB but still be connected how can i do that its only so i can make a hole for it so it can be used

You can connect all the parts that are on the board edge on flying leads, though due to there being 6 connections on the volume control I’d leave this on the board and mount it and the board at that location. You can however quite neatly leave all the items on the board edge and use them as is. Click on the camera icon above to see some examples, the Hardenhuish School example shows this the best.

Hi there. Do you have the components to build a separate subwoofer to go with this?
Response by geoffhampson on
We have a higher power full range speaker that has a good response right from low frequencies up to the higher frequencies. We don’t however do frequency specific speakers or filters to only drive the low frequencies into a subwoofer speaker. The full range speaker is shown in the related products link at the top left of this page.

Can you run 3 of the speakers of the 1 unit?
Response by geoffhampson on
When you say 3 speakers I’m assuming that you mean one channel has one speaker and the other channel has 2 speakers on it. When you put the two speakers in parallel you will half their combined resistance so the 8 ohm load becomes 4 ohms. The IC that drives the speakers can handle 4 ohms so that’s fine. What should be stated is that although it is possible to add an extra speaker it won’t make the sound any better quality or any louder it will only change the athletics of the design.
