Kitronik March Product Update

News > Kitronik March Product Update

Hello and welcome to our March newsletter. In this edition we will be covering some of our new products. These include pre-built amplifier kits, a better quality speaker, solenoids, movement sensors, a number of new motors, new E-textile parts and a range of nuts and bolts.

Pre-built deluxe amplifier kits

In September we introduced our new deluxe range of amplifier kits. These have already proved popular and we have had a number of people ask us if a 'pre-built' version was available. As we never like to disappoint our customers, we now sell a built version with a 3.5mm jack connector and another version with an iPod connector.

High quality speakers

If you are looking for a high quality speaker for use in an audio project, or as an upgrade to the speakers we supply as standard with our amplifier kits, then take a look at our new 20W speaker. This is a high quality full range speaker (no need for a separate woofer and tweeter) which offers excellent sound quality. We've tested these with a high power amplifier and were very impressed with the quality of the sound they produce.

5V solenoid

For those of you wanting to add linear motion to a project then this 5V solenoid could be ideal. They are perfect for pushing items such as switches.

PIR movement sensor

Detecting motion is something many of you may want to do in one of your projects. This PIR movement sensor does all the hard work for you. It has a simple three wire interface (two wires for power and one for the sensor state).

New motors

We now have a twin motor gearbox kit. This is a perfect building block for many buggy designs. The gearbox can be configured to provide three different gearbox ratios and is also supplied with a set of wheels.

We also have two new motors that come supplied with fixed ratio gear boxes. There is a 30:1 ratio version and a 100:1 ratio version.

E-textiles

We've added a number of interesting parts to our E-textiles range over the last couple of months.

We now stock two types of conductive fabrics. One is a ripstop (no stretch) and the other is a stretchy fabric

For those of you that do not need a large reel of conductive thread we now do a 6m bobbin which will be ideal for many individual projects.

For those of you who want to take your E-textiles projects to the next level the LilyPad range is well worth a look. These products are based around the popular Arduino programmable platform. This allows various input, output, power, and sensor boards to be used to create whatever functionality you require.

There's no need to do the maths yourself when you use our LED resistor calculator

In January we told you about our resistor value calculator. To make life easier we have added a copy to each LED page on our website. It is located on the left hand side of the webpage and automatically picks up the details of the LED you are looking at. An example can be seen here.

Nuts and bolts

At some point everyone needs nuts and bolts so we thought we better stock some! You can find them in our PCB fixing section.
