Hello and welcome to our June newsletter. We were quite excited to learn that Rose Sinclair, PGCE D&T Programme Leader at Goldsmiths recently met The Queen and to whom she showed some of our e-textiles range. You can read more on this here.
In this edition we will be previewing a number of new project kits that we have just released. We will also be explaining our custom PCB manufacturing service, introducing a new Arduino based buggy kit, highlighting our Perspex range and outlining a selection of new project pictures which we have added to our gallery.
New project kits - We've recently introduced a few new kits that we've been busy designing over the last few months.
High power amplifier kit - This is a very high quality, high power amplifier circuit. In fact it's that loud we can't use it on full volume in our office! It comes supplied with a power supply and high quality speakers. The kit is available in an iPod / iPhone version or a 3.5mm jack version.
LED picture frame kit - This is a simple kit that can be used to make a picture frame or mirror that can be lit up for a period of time at the simple press of a button. The kit can be used with the LEDs of your choice.
Coin cell power board - This is a small compact power source that is ideal for powering kits / parts when you are trying to keep the size to a minimum. The kit is supplied with a CR2032 coin cell which produce a 3V output voltage.
Relay kit - This is a versatile board that can easily be configured via jumpers and trimmer potentiometers to do a range of tasks. Most sensor and switches can be connected to the input of the board and the trigger level set for the input device. This will then trigger the relay output which can be set to stay on while the input is triggered or can be latched on via a timer for up to 25 minutes.
Shower water saver timer kit - This project is a nice way of reducing the amount of water used when showering. When tipped up a four minute timer starts, this is shown by the blue LED flashing the number of minutes remaining every 10 seconds. i.e. it flashes four times to start with, then three, two, one until the four minutes is up.
Custom PCB manufacturing - For anyone designing their own projects our custom PCB service is the perfect way to turn them into reality. The service offers great quality PCBs at an equally great price (minimum order 100 PCBs).
For anyone looking to have PCBs for September please make sure that we receive your order by the 13th of July.
Arduino minibot buggy - Do you want to explore the field of robotics but don't know where to start? The Minibot is an Arduino-compatible platform which makes it ideal for people just learning to program as well as experienced Arduino users.
Schools - Order now for September delivery and enjoy the summerFor those of you that are teachers the next few weeks can be a busy time as you plan for the year ahead. We are also aware that with the increasing move towards academies often funding is not available until the new school year.
Why not place your order now for delivery in September and we can arrange for the goods to be delivered on a date that best suits you (this must clearly be marked on orders). We would not invoice until the goods are dispatched.
This will mean that you can put your feet up over the summer safe in the knowledge that we will be getting everything sorted for when you return.
New example pictures - Yet again we've been given a number of new example pictures to include in our project gallery. These include some excellent amplifier designs from the Humphry Davy School, e-textile arm/ankle bands from the Cardinal Allen Catholic High School and USB power lamps from the Great Houghton School. Check them out!

New multi-function rotary tool - We have just introduced a handy multi-function rotary tool. It is ideal for drilling, cutting, grinding and is supplied with a handy 42 piece accessory pack.
Perspex range - Our range of Perspex branded acrylic sheets has been growing in popularity over the last few years. We have a wide range styles and sheet sizes and our pricing is amongst the very best available.
If you are making a acrylic case for one of your projects then our new panel mounting DC power jack may be of interest. The mounting thread on this jack is longer than many similar styled connectors and can be mounted into a 3mm Perspex sheet.
