News > Kitronik January Product Update

Happy new year and welcome to our January news and product update. If you are looking for a January bargain you might find one in our clearance section.

In this edition we will be covering some new product videos, our picture gallery, how to make a low cost guitar amplifier, our new pink LEDs and LED resources, USB sticks and low cost clock movements.

Product videos

After the last product update we had a lot of people asking for more detail on the products listed. As a result we've put together some videos in which I have been able to explain the key features of some of these products.

Click on the links below to see them (the videos are towards the bottom of the pages).

New gallery pictures

If you are looking for project inspiration then our picture gallery is the place to look. We have recently uploaded a number of new examples. If you have any pictures that you would like to add please send them to us.

Build a practice guitar amplifier

It is very easy to convert our mono amplifier into an amplifier that can be used for practicing with a guitar. It just requires the simple addition of a couple of extra parts. For more details see our application note that explains how it is done. This can be found at the bottom of the mono amplifier product description.

Uncased USB sticks

This year we have increased the size of our uncased memory stick from 256Mb to 1Gb and the price is still the same. If you are looking for resources there is a DATA publication (search on 'USB' at this page) that may be useful.

LEDs and LED resources

We have just introduced a new Pink LED. This is a great LED with a wide viewing angle. It has a forward voltage of 3.1V so it can be used with a lithium coin cell without the need for a current limit resistor, making it ideal for use in textiles projects.

We have a couple of resources which will make using any of our LEDs extremly simple. The first is our current limit resistor calculator. All you need to do is pick the LED you are using, click to get its details, put in your battery voltage and it does the rest for you.

We also have a LED datasheet the puts all of our LED information in one handy place. It can be downloaded from the top of the LED page.

Clock movements for £0.75 each

We have been selling clock movements for a number of years. This year we have introduced a tray of 100 movements. At £75 per tray this works out at only £0.75 per movement and is already proving very popular.
