Further Information

Q:
Hi, Does this speaker kit 20 w 8 ohm 100mm come with two speakers or one. Also does all the leads and wiring come with it that will make it work.
Asked by: Daniel Perry
A:
Hi Daniel, The product you have posted the question on is just for the speaker itself and isn't an amplifier kit. However the high powered amp kit, https://www.kitronik.co.uk/2143 does include these speakers in the kit and all the other components required.

Q:
I need the same model but 6.5 inches.is it available? Thanks
Asked by: Mario
A:
Hi Mario, Unfortunately this is the largest sized full range speaker we have. It may be possible to get a similar spec one in a larger size but unfortunately not something we stock.

Q:
how loud really are they in Db as I want to play them very loud and am unsure how loud they go
Asked by: james
A:
Hi James, these speakers produce around 86 dB, so they are fairly loud. As an idea a food blender is around 90 dB.

Q:
if i brought the bluetooth stereo amplifier kit the 100mm 8 ohm one. would i be able to wire up another 100mm 8 ohm speaker to the circuit and it still work.
Asked by: luke wotton
A:

Hi Luke, When the 100mm speaker option is brought you would receive two 100mm 8 ohm speakers, one for each channel. It would then become difficult to start connecting multiple speakers to each channel.

Q:
Hi, is it possible to use two of these speakers instead of the speakers that come with the deluxe stereo speaker pack?
Asked by: IA
A:

Hi, Yes it would be possible to use these speaker, but as the Deluxe kit can only output 1W per channel these speakers wouldn’t be used to their full potential. We do have a high power kit, high-power-amp-kit which already use the 20W speakers.

Q:
I am thinking of using these for a project, will this kit only work with two speakers or can I use just one of the speakers?
Asked by: Alec
A:

Hi Alec,

You can use one of these speakers on its own.

Q:
Would It be better if I use these speakers with tweeters or will they sound good on their own
Asked by: Jagvir Singh Dhaliwal
A:

These speakers are full range, so will cover both high and low frequency signals. As such tweeters would really improve the sound quality. You would be better off using a woofer and tweeter together connected to a cross over as this would give you a better frequency cover.

Q:
Will I be able to connect this to a 3.5mm audio jack, for a speaker project?
Asked by: Christian
A:

This depends on what you are doing, if you want the speaker to play music when plugged into an MP3 player or phone you need to use a kit like our High Power Amplifier. Connecting the speaker directly to a 3.5mm jack will not work.

Q:
I'd like to know if this speaker can be mounted on my Geloso g504.
Asked by: franco
A:
I couldn't tell you if the speaker will fit a particular product, however I'd added the technical drawing to the additional pictures under the main product image so you can work this out for yourself.

Q:
Hi I want to buy these speakers for my build but I also have 2x5w speakers spare, is it possible that I make,a stereo 5w amp and a stereo 20w amp and join the source together ? my worry is that i want to have one potentionometer that will control the volume of both amps is it possible to do that without blowing up 5w speakers or having a terrible distortion?
Asked by: Patryk
A:
I wouldn't recommend it. It would be very difficult to use one potentiometer to control the volume of both kits. Also they might not play the music at the same time, one may play a fraction of a second later giving a weird echo effect.

Q:
Hi, I was thinking about using these speakers instead of the standard speakers you get with the Deluxe Stereo Amplifier Kit, would this increase the overall sound quality? Thank You.
Asked by: Maria SN
A:
Hi Maria, these speakers are too big to be optimal for the stereo amplifier kit. The stereo amplifier kit outputs 1W per channel so 20W speakers won't give a good response. If you are looking to get the most out of the stereo amp kit I would reccomend running it from a 12V supply like this one http://www.kitronik.co.uk/index.php?cID=712 and swapping the speakers for these http://www.kitronik.co.uk/products/components/audio/speakers/5w-6-5cm-full-range-speaker/ although they can output up to 5W they provide a really good volume and quality of sound when ran from the stereo amp kit.

Q:
what kind of size would the box for the speaker have to be?
Asked by: Sheil M
A:
The dimensions of the speaker can be found in a drawing under the main image. I'd recommend going a little bigger than the size of the speaker to give yourself some room, a size of 13cm x 13cm x 8cm is a good guideline. If the material you are making the box out of is very thick though you may wish to go a little bigger.

Q:
i have just ordered two of these, i hope they are good because honestly, i might have to underpower these speakers, as i think my amp is 10watt p/channel or it might be 20watt p/channel..questions= A: do you know the wattage of the sony lbt-d117 ?? b: will these be alright using that voltage ?? thanks, Ryan C
Asked by: Ryan C
A:
I've not managed to find a full specification of the system you will be using with these speakers, but have been able to see that it outputs 20W, which is presumably 10W per channel. Running the speakers at 10W per channel will be fine, as you say the speakers won't be running at their full potential, but the stereo will be. As well as checking the power you should also check the impedance of the system. These speakers are 8 ohms and most home audio systems are designed to drive in to 8 ohms. So in this case I suspect that they are likely to be correct, but a quick check on the back of the audio system would indicate the impedance.
It's always worth checking not all equipment is 8 ohms, for instance car stereos use 4 ohm speakers.
